Searched for shower doors and landed on a windshield-repair site? Or the other way around? You are not imagining things. You are also not the first person this has tripped up. Bold City Glass & Showers and Bold City Auto Glass are two separate, unrelated businesses. They just happen to share "Bold City" in the name, and both work in the Jacksonville area.
Here is what each one actually does, laid out plainly, so you can pick the right company before you dial a single number.
Bold City Glass & Showers and Bold City Auto Glass share no ownership, no history, no business relationship. Each company independently picked "Bold City," a common nickname for Jacksonville, when it went to name itself.
That overlap is a branding coincidence, nothing more. It does not make one a division of the other, and neither can speak for the other's work, pricing, or scheduling. Treat them as two completely separate calls.
"Bold City" comes from Jacksonville's own civic nickname, "The Bold New City of the South." Plenty of local businesses across different trades have folded that phrase into their branding over the years. Coincidence, not a shared parent company or a rebrand, is what explains this particular overlap.
Bold City Glass & Showers designs, fabricates, and installs custom shower doors and enclosures for homes and businesses across Jacksonville, Duval County, and St. Johns County. The catalog also covers custom mirrors, steam shower enclosures, glass partition walls, commercial glass services, custom wine walls and cellars, and glass panel railings.
The company is family-owned, based in Atlantic Beach, FL, and keeps design, fabrication, and installation in-house instead of farming out the glasswork. Bathroom, mirror, partition, wine display, railing project? That is the Bold City you want.
Bold City Auto Glass is a separate windshield repair and replacement company. Its website describes mobile repair and replacement service for automotive glass, covering Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Orange Park, Middleburg, Saint Johns, St. Augustine, Palm Coast, Macclenny, Starke, Gainesville, and other nearby cities.
The company also promotes an insurance-based windshield replacement program and a trade-in offer for an old windshield. Its published services stop at automotive glass. Nothing on its site mentions shower doors, mirrors, partitions, railings, or any architectural glass work.
So if a bathroom or business project somehow lands on a windshield-repair website, or a cracked-windshield search sends you to a shower door page, that is the same name overlap at work again. Neither site can help with the other's category. Check the services list before you request a quote from either one.
The split is simple once you know it exists. A cracked windshield or a broken car window is automotive glass. Vehicle glass is Bold City Auto Glass's entire business. A shower door, custom mirror, steam enclosure, glass partition, wine wall, or glass railing is architectural glass, and that is what Bold City Glass & Showers builds every day.
Not sure which category fits? Ask where the glass sits. In a vehicle, or in a building. That single question points you to the right company, and our team is glad to redirect you if a call turns out to be automotive glass rather than a bathroom or commercial project.
No. They are two separate, independently owned businesses that both use "Bold City" in their name. Neither company is affiliated with, owns, or operates the other.
No. Bold City Glass & Showers works exclusively in architectural glass: shower doors and enclosures, mirrors, partitions, commercial glass, wine walls, and railings. Automotive glass falls outside its services.
Based on its published services, no. Bold City Auto Glass's site describes automotive glass repair and replacement only, with no shower, mirror, or architectural glass offerings listed.
Match the project to the glass type. Vehicle glass, including windshields, belongs with Bold City Auto Glass. Home or business glass, including showers, mirrors, partitions, and railings, belongs with Bold City Glass & Showers.
The name overlap is coincidental, plain and simple. Once you know which company handles which kind of glass, there is no reason to second-guess a call again. Vehicle glass goes to Bold City Auto Glass. Everything inside a home or business, from a shower enclosure to a glass railing, goes to Bold City Glass & Showers.
